Cau Restaurant

Cau restaurant
Royal Tunbridge Wells is one of my favourite places to shop and eat. It has a big Fenwick's that houses fabulous makeup and shoes, I can happily while away a few hours in this store.

On my last visit to Tunbridge Wells after a hard days shopping, I spotted Cau restaurant, which has only recently opened. Cau is the sister restaurant of my favourite Gaucho Grill. The menu is from Argentina and I knew it had to be the place for dinner given the wonderful meals I have had in Gaucho Grills.

The inside decor is cool with a wonderful sky effect as a ceiling and cloud lights above a silver wine bar. The restaurant is set over two floors with a spiral staircase.

The menu offers small plates, to start which are great for sharing. Mains offered are steaks, burgers, salads and chicken.

Cau Restaurant
We opted for some small plates to share to start ...
Cau Restaurant Argentinian crispbreads: Spanish chorizo, tomato and rocket, roasted aubergine and mozzarella, tomato, chili and pancetta, sweet onion, mozzarella and oregano. The dips are delicious as are the authentic breads.
Cau Restaurant
The belly of pork tempura is delicious but huge I am very glad I am sharing as this is a main in its self.

Cau Restaurant
The tempura of smoked beef was yummy, great flavour and I would have happily eaten it all. Ok I possibly had more than my equal share, but I just couldn't resist.

For mains the choice is easy, it has to be steak. As the restaurant is owned by Gaucho I have very high hopes.

Cau Steak
The fillet of rump is delicious. It melts in your mouth as a good steak should and the chimichurri marinade is an excellent addition.

Cau Steak
The 260 gram rump is delicious with a smokiness from the grill that is really flavoursome. The addition of green peas with shallots, mint and a little fresh chilli was a good call.

Overall a lovely restaurant and considering its newness excellent attentive service without being overbearing. We will definitely be back.

Not based in Tunbridge Wells, don't worry they have restaurants in Cambridge, Guildford, Blackheath, Kingston and Amsterdam.

  3. The starters look lovely, but the mains aren't very original.

You would have such an awesome time here, I've taken loads of photos of food to put up on my blog when I get back. We weren't to Denny's tonight! I'm so excited to try all the American places!

  6. Nothing beats great steak. This looks so delicious. I would have had to share some of that too, because that looks like a lot of food. I wish there was an Argentinian restaurant here.
